Off we go… When was the last time you ventured to downtown L.A.? You may be in for a surprise!
Many of the art deco buildings from the twenties are being renovated, the business center with its
skyscrapers towering above the horizon is thriving, CITY HALL has been given a face lift
and has been rededicated .Did you know that people actually live downtown? Just wait till you check
out the Bunker Hill Towers luxury apartments.
First you will visit the FLOWER MARKET, established in 1913. It is the largest market of its
kind in the United States featuring practically every variety of cut and exotic flowers. You will also find
silk and dried flowers, all at real bargain prices. Your tour will then take you through the
CIVIC CENTER, the FINANCIAL CENTER and the MUSIC CENTER.
You will get a glimpse of the DISNEY CENTER, well on its way to completion. There will
be a stop at the new CATHEDRAL OF OUR LADY OF THE ANGELS to enjoy the
architecture and art of the newest building downtown (a self guided book will be provided).
Your next stop will be world famous OLVERA STREET, located in EL PUEBLO DE LOS
ANGELES historical monument, the birthplace of Los Angeles. Here you’ll find bargains galore…
handmade crafts, Mexican pottery, leather goods, etc and watch craftsmen at work as well as have
access to a number of free museums. You’ll see the first house in L.A. built in 1818, the first church
and the first firehouse then on to UNION STATION before continuing on to our last stop
in the JEWLERY CENTER before returning home.
