The old garment district renamed the FASHION DISTRICT is truly a “buyer’s paradise”
as toted in their brochure. But first you will visit the FLOWER MARKET, started in 1913,
it is the largest market in the United States featuring practically every variety of cut and exotic flowers;
as well as a selection of silk and dried flowers. Your bargains will start right there; you will be
amazed at the low cost of the huge bouquets of mixed flowers, multi colored gorgeous roses, delicate
orchids and any species that tickles your fancy.
From the flower market you are just a block from the TEXTILE area, stores with an extensive
supply of upholstery and drapery fabrics, buttons, trim, zippers, Beads,etc. You will be given a detailed
map to help you find the stores that are most interesting to you. But you may want to just browse and
have fun discovering one store after another displaying casual as well as fine tailored Italian
MEN’S WEAR, WOMEN’S AND CHILDREN’S FASHION, ACCESSORIES such as
sunglasses, perfume and handbags. or luggage. HOME DÉCOR, bedding, beautiful rugs
and carpets for all budgets. And for a special “bazaar” experience and more good
deals, you must use the pedestrian alleys on SANTEE.
On special days you also have the opportunity to buy samples at great discount from famous designers
in California Mart, home to 1200 showrooms usually open only to the trade.
We will board the bus for a short stop in the JEWLERY DISTRICT before returning home.
