when you left home this morning… This is truly an Escapade not to miss.
The Santa Ynez Valley is just a little more than 130 miles from Los Angeles in a tranquil area
of oak-lined roads, orchards, wineries and horse ranches. It is a beautiful setting against a mountain
background, Solvang, or ”Sunny Fields” as named by the Danish settlers who founded it in
1911, is the main community of this valley. A visit to the ELVERHOJ, former residence of a
famous family, will give an insight into the history of the town. Later, as you stroll along the flower-lined
streets and take in the windmills, the architecture of greenish copper roofs adorned by the red and
white Dannebrog flags, carved doorways, eaves and nesting storks, you will be further transported
into the Scandinavian culture. You will have the opportunity to window shop and sample a true
Smorgasbord and try the traditional aebleskiver, yummm..
Next, We will continue our path, a mere three miles away to the CHUMASH INDIAN CASINO
for an exciting afternoon of blackjack, bingo, poker or multi slot machines.
However, you may choose to stay in town to fully discover it on your own. The tour director will offer
several options for activities such as tickets to the Vintage Motorcycle Museum, rental
of a tandem bike or horsedrawn carriage rides ( upon availability) and more…
NOTE: It is also possible for the gambler preferring to spend the full afternoon at the casino to be
transferred there immediately after a brief stop in SOLVANG.
